HISTORY

1990

On May 1, 1990, Hermawan Kartajaya established MarkPlus Professional Service in Surabaya as Indonesia's first marketing consulting firm.

1992

The MarkPlus Strategic Forum was established in Surabaya. Serving as a platform, it facilitated the expansion of MarkPlus Professional Service from Surabaya to Jakarta.

1993

Hermawan Kartajaya began regularly writing for Jawa Pos to promote MarkPlus using his marketing concept.

1996

Hermawan Kartajaya founded Indonesia Marketing Association (IMA), and became the President until 1998

1998

Hermawan Kartajaya became the President of Asia Pacific Marketing Federation (APMF)

2000

In the midst of the 1998 Asian Crisis, Hermawan Kartajaya co-authored the first book with Professor Philip Kotler, titled "Repositioning Asia: From Bubble to Sustainable Economy," published by John Wiley (Asia) and Anderson Consulting.

2001

MarkPlus Professional Service changed its name to MarkPlus, Inc.

2003

The Chartered Institute of Marketing United Kingdom (CIM - UK) recognized Hermawan Kartajaya as one of "The 50 Gurus Who Have Shaped the Future of Marketing."

2006

MarkPlus held its first, MarkPlus Conference, the largest annual marketing event in Indonesia.

2012

MarkPlus established Marketeers as its owned media unit

2013

MarkPlus held the first Jakarta Marketing Week, with the opening speech by Joko Widodo in Kota Kasablanka

MarkPlus held the first Indonesia Marketing Festival, as the road of Jakarta Marketing Week that held in MarkPlus’ branches

2015

MarkPlus held the first WOW Brand to give the appreciation for more than 300 recommended brands in Indonesia

2020

Hermawan Kartajaya and the MCorp Team designed the Strategic Marketing Roadmap 2030, which outlines milestones and phases to be achieved post-pandemic until 2030, in preparation for Indonesia's Golden Age (Indonesia Emas) in 2045.

2022

At 75 years old, Hermawan Kartajaya announced his commitment as the "Timeless Guru" and decided to become a "Kadaver" to remind himself of his love of knowledge. He documented this journey in a film titled "The Timeless Guru: Learn, Think, Share."

2023

Hermawan Kartajaya and Professor Philip Kotler have published their latest books, "Marketing 6.0: The Future is Immersive" and "Entrepreneurial Marketing," which have been published globally.
